Lewis Carroll

"To me it seems that to give happiness is a far nobler goal that to attain it: and that what we exist for is much more a matter of relations to others than a matter of individual progress: much more a matter of helping others to heaven than of getting there ourselves."

Open Your Eyes

We should always have a critical thinking mind.
We can't always buy into everything.
It might be fact that people aren't always saying the truth.

If we follow anything that seems appealing,
can't you see?
we'll give our freedoms to things we don't want.

We also should be careful with what we want.
Where are those desires birthed from?

Is this too much for you?
If it is, you have to open your eyes.

This world, no matter how you see it...
well, it has some problems.
And those problems won't solve themselves.
Those problems can catch up with us

And we won't solve ourselves,
if we always solve the problems of the selfish.

Don't serve those seeking power
Don't serve those seeking possession
Don't serve those who do it wrong
not those who live the false ego

but serve those,
serve those who love
those who do good,
serve those for the sake of humanity
and serve the sake of humanity.

Open your eyes
what is gonna make you happy?
is it gonna be things that lead to hell
or is it gonna be things that result in heaven
(life, and true liberty, and love)

You are a human being,
you're no creation constructed by another's will,
for you have your own will
be able to see the intentions of those around you
and especially those of yourself
live your own life

who are you?
you should know
and if you don't///
open your eyes,
what do you want to be?
trust me,
you want to be (a) you

not a consumer
not a robot
and not a casualty

especially not
someone against humanity
~{R}~

[ps. I could say more about the false natures of humanity that destroy our virtues, but, I have faith that you'll see 'em yourself]

OK, agree with most of your post, but just be careful with utopias. This weeks sees the 60th anniversary of '1984' and it could not be more relevant to the times we live. Also, as someone who was born in a country full of utopias, I can attest to the devastating effect they have. Many thanks.

Greetings from London.

Yeah! I believe so too...

But on second thought, perhaps each one of us is holding on to a prejudice. Instead of being comfortable and maintaining stereotypes, we can teach ourselves that there are other ways of looking and judging others and their situations...

Opening one's eyes. Nice... :)

I like this post a lot, and the idea that we all need to personally awaken. As more and more individuals awaken to the idea that we choose our own reality...hopefully the people will begin to take responsibility, rather than depending on others, or government to solve all our problems. Our thoughts and actions today effect directly what our tomorrow will be. What kind of world we will live in is dependent upon how many of us awaken and begin taking personal responsibility for our thoughts and actions. What kind of society will make us happy? One that dictates everything to us, or one that allows us to make our own decisions? "The people get the government they deserve." I don't know who said that, but it really makes sense to me.

Man, that was a long poem.
By the way, you're a university student, right? Philosophy? (It just seems like it).
Thanks for the post comment by the way.

The films look interesting. I'll check them out, thanks.

the one responsible for the death of a laughing man is his heart.

And I don't think I would like to die because of laugning.
1)It's ironic.
2)They used tickling (which causes laughing) as a torture back in the days of the witches.

But as an idea it's not a bad-sounding one...
