Lewis Carroll

"To me it seems that to give happiness is a far nobler goal that to attain it: and that what we exist for is much more a matter of relations to others than a matter of individual progress: much more a matter of helping others to heaven than of getting there ourselves."

Emotion

Love and fear.
The only two emotions.
All others are said to be an alteration.

I heard that humanity would do its best in love.
Fear can be limiting is what I heard.

So these two are pretty important, eh?
Emotions are important.
They determine a lot.
Our actions are influenced by emotion.
And our actions determine our destiny.

Love and fear aren't yin and yang.
Each has their purpose in our lives.

And each of them should be within our controls.
When we don't control them right, problems occur.

But on another, yet similar note.
When people control people,
someone is bound to be neglected.
This is true on large and small scales.

We all control each other in some ways.
We each have our own freewill,
but we are also all connected.

We can feed our ego,
out of fear,
or we can love.

So be aware,
you control others,
no matter how big or small
and you should do so,
with love,
For the Sake of Humanity

love must be balanced…and justice must be present to ensure proper rule. parents discipline their children out of love…to ensure that they learn what’s right and wrong. without justice, even the most sincere love becomes evil and crippling…and morals are lost as a result. some people seem to forget that. this is all my opinion of course.

Good poem!..it had a nice flow of thought and included absolutes as its focus.

“AIM FOR THE TOP” it was part of my graduation speech…that I was not allowed to give…seeing as how I was not a valedictorian or a salutatorian. instead of hearing my speech at graduation about the future and how nothing matters unless we as people grow and respond to the changes in our young life…the school staff wanted to hear a self-centered speech by the “good” students about how great the past four years were…sorry to complain…I’m still kinda burnt about it.

…regardless of the goals to destroy what is “bad”…if people feel dominated or restricted, they will never be satisfied. Some people will understand the “good”…but the majority of society will only see their restriction and will protest and fight against it. more opinions.
Wow that was long

I also think faith fits into play here as well. It seems to me that faith may be the opposite of fear. Let me explain. Fear depends on our inner apprehensions which motivate us to do or not do, speak or not speak, but it stems from a negative emotion which can be controlling, even parlyzing. It can stop us from becoming and being what we inwardly desire to do and be. Faith on the other hand gives us courage that we otherwise would not have. It says, "you can do it...you will succeed." It trusts and believes that anything is possible. Perhaps that faith was given at some point by a father or mother, and it was exercised...so it became stronger. Faith says..."Go ahead and try...you will become whatever you want to be."

You even control others without any intention to do so, ironic, isn't it? Good post. Many thanks.

The funny thing is, I was actually about to agrue about your point of there only being two emotions... but then i thought about it. People hate because they fear something, and that fear and hate makes them angry.

So it all makes sense. And I will make sure to keep that last point in mind ^^
