Lewis Carroll

"To me it seems that to give happiness is a far nobler goal that to attain it: and that what we exist for is much more a matter of relations to others than a matter of individual progress: much more a matter of helping others to heaven than of getting there ourselves."

Self

[So far] I've concluded that there are three categories to this life.
Church, State, and Self.

Self:
One aspect to life is the aspect of self.
This encompasses the necessities of physical life,
as well as the thoughts that the brain processes.

This aspect is important because of its affects on Church and State.
Who you are determines your life [you experience] in this world

If anything in this world is gonna change, it must be done...
[not through the bureaucracies of state or the liberties of church, but]
...through a change in the aspect of self. We must change///

True, individuality for me is the starting point. Note, individuality, not individualism.

Many thanks.

Actually, Dove Chocolate makes some sort of chocolate rose... It's not as detailed and pretty though.

Anyways, Perhaps I have missed more of your other blogs than I thought, because I am confused. I understand what you are saying about self, but what is meant by church and state? (-feels stupid-)

Katrien, what he means to say is that you should go to church every week and give yourself wholly to the state. Don't question anything and just take what you are given without thinking a second thought. That's what Rafe means. Duh!

true. Do you mean to say that in other places of the world people are not, overall deasent?

We are preached to and dictated to from many different angles; from church, from state, from television, from friends, and from our experiences. Who do we listen to, and what do we take to heart? That is the question. 95 percent of what we hear through the media is just babble...hogwash designed to form us into some elitists mold of who "they" think we should be. We each need to go out for a walk and have a long talk with ourselves and decide what we truly believe. In other words, true change comes from within, and this I think is what the author of "self" was trying to say.

It’s been awhile…I forgot how much I enjoy your blog……moving on:

I agree……self……humans are gifted with the ability of self-awareness. An ego…and that ego has the ability to grow, change, and develop from experience (a lot of which comes from church and state) and even self-generated thought.

I wonder though, do you include aspects such as love in this idea of self?

Interesting Philosopher,
Joe

that's a first, someone apologized for a confusion, I just put it down to everyday life, but it's cool, yeah, I don't know what to think of people in general, when in groups people are so terrible, but when you get them on their own most people are okay.....
