Lewis Carroll

"To me it seems that to give happiness is a far nobler goal that to attain it: and that what we exist for is much more a matter of relations to others than a matter of individual progress: much more a matter of helping others to heaven than of getting there ourselves."

For The Sake Of Humanity

Take heed my words!
Engulf my ideas!
Understand the truth!
And if it's not true...
Challenge it!  Show ME the truth!
But if it is true...
For your own good
and for the good of those you love.
Spread my words as butter
so that no one will suffer any longer.
Together we're invincible.
Together we can change this world!
Yes We Can!
And it's your fault this world is as it is.
It's my fault this world is as it is.
Do you know why?
Because we aren't determined enough!
I say "Oh, God, kill me now!"
I say "I don't need to live a normal life, I'm too noble"
I say "Why should I live this corruption"
But ITS FOOLISHNESS!
It's foolishness because Martin Luther King, Jesus Christ, Abraham Lincoln, Mahatmha Gandhi and plenty more all lived extremely influential lives and look at where they are now! In our memories and assassinated in their graves.
How can I change the world being a bum?
How can I change the world when I have nothing to offer but words?
Everyone of us 6 Billion+ have thoughts to give.
It's the new fad.
So what makes me so special?
Nothing, nothing yet...
And what do you say?
"It doesn't affect me"
or
"The world ain't bad, look at everything good"
Or what else do you say?
"That's not for me..."
or maybe
"That guy's crazy"
BUT!
I plead with you.
We can help each other.
We can help others.
We can help ourselves.
By helping out this world...
It takes the majority to change things.
If we could simply lead the world to seeing the truths behind humanity,
we could change the word for the better...
We can create a harmony in the world.
A world where everone's needs are covered,
and everyone's selfish indulgences are limited...
because kids don't know the harm they do to themselves...
We can maintain the health of this world.
We can grow up!
Go ahead...prove to me you aren't a kid...
For The Sake Of Humanity
...please, show me you aren't a self-indulging, careless, wasteful kid...
please, for the sake of humanity...

I can agree with much of this post. The world is going to hell, and everything around is as well. Yet, not very much action has been done to stop this. Sad, sad truth. We as a single person, i think can make a difference. People through out all of history have helped to make changes across the world, and some have influenced the future whether they had an idea they would or not. It is easier on the basis of more people coming together because then it gives the idea that you are not all alone and the illusion of being isolated does not come with it. Togetherness and brotherhood bonds are formed within one another. The people of the world have the power to change, but they simply do not through the selfish reasons that are represented throughout all of history as you stated before. They use buts, and, or, and more. I wish I could say that I am not a selfish person, and i look always to benefit the world. However, right now I am learning the tools I have and am going to offer the world what I can when I have finished assembling those tools. The tools of knowledge, sympathy, compassion, understanding, articulation, justice, power, helpfulness, music, listening, art, and so many more. i could help now, but part of me is too selfish to help right now, and I know as the future shall continue I will work to help all the world I can in the best way possible. Allow myself to grow, and so many others, and they will change the world for the better. My excuse for not helping, is wanting those tools and knowing they will help better. I can chip away at the huge rock right now, with only my fists, and it may work, but I think if I had a screwdriver, or even a hammer it would go just a little bit faster. Although, maybe I would have help. Only humanity can decide if the world shall end in the way you have foreseen, or not.

First, I would like to thank you for the comments you left me.
I do that often, talk about something or rant, and then conclude that I have no idea what I'm saying, or that I've lost my point.

And also, thank you for not thinking I'm crazy... I can deal with weird...

Now, onto the important things...
Your words are beautiful.
And words are the start to changing the world. If you can spread your words to at least one other person, you can help them understand the importance of your views. Spread that word to a few more people, and they can spread it onward as well.

I personally believe that humanity is doomed, and continues to doom itself. theres so much violence, so much hate..... And we as humans continue destroying the planet with our greed...

And hah... I'm a little out there right now, so i'm sorry this comment isn't that great, and I have already lost my train of thought.

Hey, thanks for reading my blog. Your posts are interesting yet somehow they are quite confusing. I'm into philosophy too but I don't dedicate my blog for my philosophies alone.
I'm gonna totally follow you...

The world isn't all bad, but we could sure as heck do a lot better.

Every single individual in this world has a choice and it's one that can be stated quite simply. it is "to try, or not to try. That is the question"

People in this world have the skill, the vision, and the reason to change this world, but most don't have the determination. Most find it easier to pass that responsiblity onto somebody else. Sure, it's easier, but it's a selfish and lazy thing to do. I'm selfish, i'm lazy, i admit it. But who isn't? the key is working past that laziness, past that selfishness, to open your eyes, your mind, and your heart. We all know what to do. Now what we need to know is how, and most importantly, why?

Find your heart
Play your part

heal your heart, heal your soul
take one more step
and heal the world

That's me trying to rhyme again! Pathetic, but incredibly entertaining.

Damn good post benji, damn good. I think it is safe to say that you my friend have gone into new territory and this post of yours is what I think we have both been lacking. For a while I thought my post was missing art, and that I needed to be more creative. How could I have been so foolish! I wrote it in my own post about art, that art is no entertainment, it is emotion, and this is outrageously bursting with passionate emotion! I see what I was lacking, I see where I failed, my post were long and boring because they lacked emotion, something you have in this post. I have definitely learned from you and I think it has finally clicked what you have been trying to do. I thought I knew, but now I see how violently you cry that we view ourselves not as an individual, but as an individual within a society! An individual whose responsibility it is to uphold their community, to fight for its freedom, to fight to maintain the light when darkness surrounds it, you and me, we are fighting a war, and I will be damned if we don't win. We can't stop, we can't lose hope, we cannot lose our fire to keep pushing, we must win. I'm backing you, 21 people are behind you, but only because the rest of the world has not heard us. But we are still so young! We have our entire lives ahead of us, and yet we're already full of so much potential. We keep working, and no one can stop us.

I really like the line, "It's my fault this world is as it is." It is a fact that the blame for this world's condition is universal; it encompasses everybody and eludes none. I do believe that line could be misconstrued as "It is exclusively my fault for the way this world is because I am a bad person/self-loather/degenerate/negative so-and-so," but not because of your writing. It contains clarity (Except for the line, "...assassinated in their graves." Makes it seem they were assassinated whilst they were lying in their graves); it is not clouded and dressed in parables and quizzical anecdotes like mine is. Perhaps that is to my detriment, but no matter.
Great writing though. When I first saw your profile ("Philosopher King") I thought you sounded a bit pretentious and, to be honest, I still believe your title and your bio seems a bit narcissistic but I do applaud your wonderful writing. I thought it was going to be one of those know-it-all high-school hipsters writing superficial and shallow "philosophical" musings about how bad they feel, how no one understands their poetry and why no one understands their soul, man! Good job, sir, you have shattered my prematurely conceived judgments!!!!
One question, though: Why is every post titled, "For the Sake of Humanity?"

Nice post.

I am way older than you. I am not going to say that I know better than you because everything you say is noble and how it should be. It's young, it's idealist, I would like to say that it would work if everyone would gather together the world will change, that we can throw a coups in Washington, rid ourselves of corporate greed, reverse global warming, stop wars, etc. But in the end, (and I know somebody is going to throw a very large spear in my direction), but it's not going to change. And you know why. It is because people are tired to get up because all of their energy is sucked out of them by making a living and worrying about the next mortgage payment and groceries, and the utility bills and their health care, etc.
The man is just too big and too pervasive.
They just want to carve the little hole that they can and be as comfortable and safe in it as possible. Because too few people are determined enough to change things and the hole is perceived as safer and more comfortable. I love reading your words and you do write beautifully, but you will see, as a high school or college student things look they way they are, but, and I never thought I'd say this, wait until you are older and have bills to pay and are tired at the end of the day because your job sucks your soul and the only revolution that is going on in life is your trying to get over on the man whenever the opportunity presents itself. This is not to say that you will live this life without meaning and not making your mark on this planet for the better if that is your goal. It is easy for you and your friends to sit and blog and throw ideas around but when you get to the nuts and bolts of the actual living, outside of the classroom, the man has already won. It sucks, it blows, I hate it, I bet you watch those older than yourself and think that you aren't going to be "like that", but it's what the world does to you. Please don't take this as a lecture. Oh and the John Lennon lyrics?? It just came to mind as I read your post. He's another one. Very easy for him to have laid in bed talking about love, love, love with trillions of dollars in the bank. I can talk about love on my blog because in my particular hole, it is what I am trying to work on for myself.

Humanity is just trying to make it through. Sad, but true. And you might say that my view is the problem and I am not contributing to the solution, but it is a monster out there and surviving and making the best you can out of every single day is what we do.

Even though Obama won the election, he won by electoral votes, the popular vote was very close. Obama's win was a nod to your way of thinking and that is where it can start. But don't expect the world at large to come together. You will see that in the end, you will do what you can, where you can. Take it from an ex-social worker who has seen it in the trenches and did her best. And in the upper middle class suburbia where I have my home, we are all just doing our best.

I don't know, I will be able to tell about the difference you are making when I am a senior citizen and you change the world to get us all Universal Health care so I won't have to dip into my Social Security. I'll call you and personally thank you.

You're what, a high school student? College? You say you've already rejected my world, but unless you are going to parochial or privately funded school, all of us who live here in the world that you so not want to be a art of, are paying your tuition. Yes, much of is is State money but some is Federal money, too. So welcome to my world. And I am happy to help pay your tuition and for your scholarships, no problem.

Tell me, what is your vocation? What do you want to do for a living when you get out of school? A professional student? A teacher? A social worker? It would be interesting to know what you aspire to be vocationally, if you would be so kind as to enlighten me. What kind of house are you going to live in? And you don't even have to answer me that question, but, just picture that one yourself, have you decided to get off the grid and power your house solely with solar energy? Wind? Corn oil? Because that is all expen$ive. And unless you are independently wealthy or a trust fund baby, and I hope you are, you have to go to work in this society to afford that house and install that power. Or are you going to be another Ted Kozinski without the bombs?

And how are you going to die? Do you have a little poison ring on your finger and when you decide it's time to go, then pop goes open the lid and then you die? The world you reject is the one you are already living in and are part of. You are already part of the machine, although would love to say and know otherwise. I've been where you are. I went to art school, I have an MFA, the most useless major one could possibly think of, and I did it and I paid for it all for the sake of art. Because I had talent. So I know what it is like to have a talent and have a mind and have a vision and a plan. But lie gets in the way. And for you you say that you have it all planned out right now, at this point in your life, is not realistic. And I know you think that what you sayis grounded in truth. I went to go live with, don't laugh, but with the Hare Krishnas for a quite a while to drop out of society, and they were bogus with their own crap, too. EVERYWHERE YOU GO THERE IS CRAP. It's just the crap that you decide to accept is the issue. A million kazillion mouths have said the exact words you are saying to me. The same thing as your Gold Promise Elaborate and the Revoltion of the Mind. Just ask any Baby Boomer. Ask Dennis Hopper, and Allen Ginsburg and Timothy Leary and Bob Dylan and Yoko Ono and and the whole crowd of them. They still possess stock options, still play the market, still have to have to dabble in the world that you so despise and want to distance yourself from. I think it's great what you say and that you think you have it all planned. out. But is's not going to look the way you think and at the very least, you will find that you will have to go the middle way. And that is nothing to be ashamed of. So just have a beer or whatever you party with and chill.

Oh, and who is the savior?

You should really read Ayn Rand, you'd really got a hoot out of her writing and philosophy.
